European Prize for Women Innovators

The European Prize for Women Innovators is awarded jointly by the European Innovation Council (EIC) and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). Depending on the category, the prize is worth €50,000, €70,000, or €100,000 and honors women who, through innovative ideas, businesses, or organizations, make a special contribution to the economy, society, or the environment.

The European Prize for Women Innovators recognizes the female entrepreneurs behind Europe’s groundbreaking innovations, so that they can inspire other women and girls to fully realize their potential as future scientists, innovators, and technology leaders in the EU.

This prize fosters a culture within research and innovation organizations and companies that empowers women to become the innovators and entrepreneurs of tomorrow.

The prize is awarded annually to women from across the EU and countries associated with Horizon Europe who have turned their ideas into disruptive innovations that benefit people and the planet and inspire leaders.

As with the previous edition, the 2027 European Women Innovators Prize will be organized in coordination between the Agency and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). The winners will be selected by an independent panel of experts.

The award is presented in three categories, two of which are funded by the EIC (the “Women Innovators” and “Emerging Innovators” categories) and one by the EIT (the EIT’s “Women in Leadership” category). The competition rules apply to both the EIC and EIT award categories.
