The "HSG Latsis Prize" is awarded annually, on the occasion of the "Dies Academicus", to a young and promising research talent at the University of St.Gallen.
This prize is open to completed and independent scientific publications of outstanding quality by younger researchers at the University of St.Gallen. The prize carries a remuneration of CHF 25'000.
The criteria for the nomination of candidates are as follows:
The Latsis Prize is aimed, first and foremost, at specific works or the entire oeuvre of researchers who have continued to carry out research after obtaining their Ph.D. It is not ruled out that the Latsis Prize may also be awarded for extraordinarily valuable doctoral dissertations; in this case, though, it must be a question of achievements that by far exceed the level of a very good dissertation (a grade of 6 for the dissertation does not in itself constitute sufficient grounds for a nomination).

Researchers must hold a fixed-term academic position at the University as of 31 March of the year of the award.
The academic net age of researchers may not exceed ten years. The academic net age is calculated in full-time equivalents.
