COST - European Cooperation in Science and Technology

COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) is a funding organisation for research and innovation networks. COST Actions help connect research initiatives across Europe and beyond and enable researchers and innovators to grow their ideas in any science and technology field by sharing them with their peers.

A COST Action is an interdisciplinary research network that brings researchers and innovators together to investigate a topic of their choice. COST Actions are typically made up of researchers from academia, SMEs, public institutions, and other relevant organisations or interested parties.

Open to all science and technology fields, including new and emerging fields; COST Actions offer an inclusive, pan-European environment for individuals of all levels of seniority to grow their professional research networks and boost their careers.

The Federal Council plans to reduce the SNSF's budget by 10 percent in 2027 and 11 percent in 2028. As a result, the SNSF will not launch any new calls for COST projects. We very much regret this. However, Switzerland will remain a member of the COST Association in Brussels. Researchers in Switzerland can continue to participate in all ongoing COST Actions and submit applications for new Actions to the COST Association.
